Our Story

The Murphy family, from Whiteville, TN, founded H&M Construction Property in 1990. For over 30 years it has continued to grow and now serves many families and businesses across middle and west Tennessee. H&M Construction Property is a black owned and family-operated business.

While creating the standards for residential and commercial construction, H&M Construction Property places a high level of focus on how it impacts the communities it services. Each year scholarships are rewarded to Tennessee resident students. H&M Construction Property also partners with various charities across the region.

Meet The President

Marchellas Murphy_HM Construction Property

Marchellas Murphy, President of H&M Construction Property, has over 25 years of experience in the construction industry. Marchellas has been part of every task imaginable in the building process. He started out as a clean-up worker on projects as a boy, and then with more involvement and dedication honed his skills as a carpenter and crew leader. Marchellas has extensive experience with Nashville, Jackson, Memphis residential and commercial renovations. He now uses those years of hands-on experience to manage residential and commercial projects. These range in size from 1,000 to 10,000 square feet.

He holds a B.S. in Animal Science with a minor in Chemistry from Tennessee State University and has held a Building Classification Contractors license in Tennessee since 2016. Marchellas has extensive experience with Nashville, Jackson, Memphis residential and commercial renovations.

One of Marchellas’s passions is fishing and hunting. He holds a Tennessee Wildlife Resources License for combo hunt/fish and WMA Small Game. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, daughter, nieces, nephews, and dog (Blue). They reside in Nashville, TN.
